Ideas & thoughts

Vekkit e-bike kits use FOC to control a motor. FOC is the most efficient way to rotate geared motors used in most electric bicycles. To use FOC a motor controller should have a very powerful microcontroller. We use STM32 microcontroller for motor logic which works very nice and fast. The problem here is not just to write a FOC algorithm (you can find a lot of open-source libraries) but to adopt it for the current motor model. This week we spend on setting and testing our controller settings. It's not an easy process because after each small change you should ride 1-2 kilometers to check made changes.

Release notes for v 0.41:

Vekkit motor controller:

  • Smooth start even on hills
  • More efficient algorithm

Website:

  • New knowledge base using Strapi.js
  • Improved kit configurator
